ADCB Launches Flexible Employment Initiative For Emirati Women
The Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, ADCB, has launched its new Tamooha initiative, which aims to encourage the involvement of Emirati women in banking by providing flexible opportunities that fit in with their life-style.
Tamooha, which is Arabic for ambitious, will provide job opportunities created to adapt to women's social and family responsibilities by giving them a choice on whether to work from home, in a bank branch near them, or in ADCB's dedicated women-only operations centre in Al Ain.
The initiative is part of the bank's commitment to serve the local community and its eagerness to bolster Emirati women's employment in the banking sector.
Ala'a Eraiqat, ADCB Chief Executive Officer and Board Member, said that female employees can choose to work from home or from ADCB's dedicated women-only operations centre in Al Ain. The centre is separated from the bank's branch network and is entirely staffed and managed by women, making it ideally suited for Emirati women, as customer interaction is not required.
"We have already received encouraging feedback on the initiative and have hired 100 women in addition to female administrative officers in charge of work teams who are responsible for training and supervising operations," he said. Mohamed Sultan Al Hameli, ADCB Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Human Resources Board Committee, said,
"Tamooha is a pioneering initiative in the U.A.E. and the whole region. Its purpose is to empower the next generation of banking sector female workers in the U.A.E., without affecting their responsibilities towards their families."
Additional centres are being developed in both the Western Region and Northern Emirates which will accommodate more than 300 female employees. The job responsibilities will consist of back-office roles including data entry, auditing and validating the accuracy of transactions, new account requests and clearing cheques sent from ADCB branches and call centres.
