RAK Tourism Exceeded AED1 Billion In Revenue In 2014
Tourism revenue in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah last year exceeded AED1 billion for the first time in its history, according to the Emirate's Tourism Development Authority, RAK TDA.
In addition to this landmark figure, Ras Al Khaimah achieved 2.14 million guest nights in 2014, a massive 72 percent increase from the 2013 performance, positioning the emirate as one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world. 2014 also saw the opening of the Rixos Bab Al Bahr Resort, the only ultra-all-inclusive resort in the UAE, Marjan Island Resort and Spa, and the Double Tree by Hilton Resort and Spa.
Other factors contributing to the success of Ras Al Khaimah's tourism industry include the cumulative reach of media coverage featuring Ras Al Khaimah, which exceeded 1.3 billion views, a growing volume of direct contacts with travel trade representatives to over 7,500, and visitors to the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism website increasing by 117 percent compared to 2013.
Commenting on growth figures, Steven Rice, Chief Executive Officer, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, said, "2014 proved to be a historic year for Ras Al Khaimah tourism, with a number of important landmarks achieved. Our guest night growth in particular was especially strong and even exceeded our ambitious forecast at the start of 2014, and Ras Al Khaimah is now proving to be a hit with both domestic holiday makers as well as the wider international community. Overall our natural assets of beach and nature combined with the great portfolio of world-class hotel brands present in the emirate has given Ras Al Khaimah a really strong platform for further growth in 2015 and beyond." Visitors to the emirate in 2014 included tourists from Germany, UK, Sweden, Russia, Italy, Switzerland and India.
