Al Maryah Island Supports Earth Hour Campaign To Raise Environmental Awareness
Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi's International Financial Centre, will join organisations and individuals around the globe to celebrate Earth Hour by switching off non-essential lighting for one hour on Saturday, 28th of March. In addition, entities on Al Maryah Island will deploy a host of other energy-saving measures to reduce carbon emissions and support sustainable resource use.
To commemorate Earth Hour, exterior lights on the four commercial towers and the Abu Dhabi Global Market Building on Abu Dhabi Global Market Square on Al Maryah Island will be dimmed. Employees of companies headquartered on Al Maryah Island will be encouraged to observe Earth Hour by turning off lights and electrical equipment at their homes, joining millions of people across the world in a symbolic show of support.
Ali Eid AlMheiri, Executive Director at Mubadala Real Estate and Infrastructure, said, "Our commitment to building a sustainable community on Al Maryah Island is ingrained within the very fabric of the development, and Earth Hour offers a great way to come together to send out a message about protecting our planet. We hope that all individuals, organisations and groups on Al Maryah Island are inspired to take part by turning off the lights for an hour, as well as making everyday choices that will help create a brighter future."
