Rain in Dubai, Abu Dhabi; warning out for beachgoers
Downpours continued to hit some parts of the UAE on Monday after a stormy night that brought lightning, thunderstorm and rain.
Light showers drizzled over Dubai and dark clouds blanketed the sky at past 1pm, while the outskirts of the UAE capital were drenched in heavy rains.
The National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) said heavy rainfall hit Das and Qarnain Island in Abu Dhabi at 9:40am.Temperatures also dipped to as low as 15.5 degrees Celsius as of 12:30am in Jais Mountain.
By 2:40pm, rains still lashed Das Island. Moderate and light rains also fell over Al Samha and Ghantoot in Abu Dhabi.
And as winds are expected to hit as much as 45 kilometres per hour, yellow and orange alerts were again raised for beachgoers who may venture the coasts of Dubai, as well as in Sila and Al Ruwais in Abu Dhabi.
A chance for rainfall will continue on Tuesday when UAE residents may also experience cloudy skies, blowing dust and poor visibility.
Warnings were hoisted across the country on Sunday night, as authorities urged the public to stay indoors due to extreme weather. Thunder, lightning and heavy rains lashed different parts of the country, causing the cancellation of some events.
